Solid tyre or pneumatic tyre? Which tyre should I get?

Do you need to change your tyres or got a puncture but you don’t know which tyre you should get? In this blog post, we will explain and share with you everything that you need to know when you are thinking of purchasing a tyre.

To start, I would like to separate them into two categories – solid tyres and pneumatic tyres. There are two categories of pneumatic tyres – tubeless and inner tubes.

Solid tyres are 100% puncture-proof. The whole tyre is solid rubber there is no way that you will get a puncture. Even if you have a sharp object on your tyre you can still ride with it so that you are not going to end up with a deflated tyre. For this reason, we can assure you that solid tyres will last longer than any other tyre type.

You only need to change them when you see wear marks. The only cons are that with a solid tyre your scooter gets heavier and it is not capable of perfect performance. Also, be aware that if you decide to change your pneumatic tyre (manufacture tyre) for a solid tyre you can damage your suspension.

Pneumatic tyres are air-filled. Unlikely the solid tyre you can get punctures. The tubeless tyre does not require inner tubes yet they are harder to change. Anyways, for this kind of tyres, you should not change them on your own. But they are better because they adapt better to the road path. After all, there is no friction between the tyre and the tube.

Tyres that require inner tubes are the most common model. It is good to have an inner tube because it prevents loss of air, especially around the rim. With time and usage, your rim can suffer scratches or bumps, especially after falls, and when you try to use a tubeless tyre it would not work. The air will flee. The best option? Get an inner tube. Inner tube tyres are the easiest to change.

To sum up, to choose your perfect tyre you need to consider what is important to you. Do you want a tyre that does not give you a headache but further can not perform as well as a pneumatic tyre? Go for a solid tyre. If you are team performance get a pneumatic tyre. Between the pneumatic tyre type, it depends on which type of scooter you have and if you know or not how to change tyres. Anyways we are here to help you. If you live in London you can always come to one of our stores and we can advise you and change your tyres.
